Portland, OR – The Northwest Film Center announced today that the 33rd Portland International Film Festival, a celebration of international and independent film and filmmakers, will run February 11-28, 2010. The deadline for submissions is November 2, 2009. Narrative features, documentaries, shorts, animation and experimental works on film, video and digital media, which have been completed after January 1, 2009, may be submitted. The Northwest Film Center, producer of the Festival, is a regional media arts organization founded to encourage the study, appreciation and utilization of the media arts, foster their artistic and professional excellence, and help create a climate in which they flourish. The Film Center also produces the Northwest Film & Video Festival, November 6-15, 2009, an annual celebration of work by regional filmmakers.
About the Festival:
The Portland International Film Festival is the major film event in Oregon, and one of the most culturally diverse and best-attended arts events in the region. The 19-day festival presents more than 125 feature films and shorts from more than 40 countries at downtown venues including the Portland Center for the Performing Arts, the Regal Broadway Cinemas, and the Portland Art Museum’s Whitsell Auditorium. As the major winter arts event in Portland, the Festival garners substantial media attention and is one of the most visible events of the year.
